South Side, The group that simplifies the meaning of the southern hip-hop culture in Thailand. With
catchy hooks, southern slang’s while at the same time giving a taste of international sound by using
languages such as English, Thai and Italian, makes South Side a one of a kind South Side, consists of
2p and Freddy V., the duo rap group from Phuket who got together because of their similar lifestyle
which sets them apart from other individual, through their interest in the hip-hop culture, they formed
“South Side Phuket” which consists of 9 people, they later became one of the biggest group in the
hip-hop scene of Phuket. They have been doing numerous mix-tapes during the years with banging
under grown hits. The group has been called to open for all hip-hop artists coming to perform in Phuket.
Until Freddy V and 2p had a chance to perform on air in front of Thaitanium, who saw their talents and
signed Freddy and 2p as a duo and formed “South Side” under Thaitanium ent.
After that South Side had been on a roll. They have been performing all over Thailand and had also
opened up for international artists such as Akon for his Concert in Thailand during his world tour. With
their thick fan-base ever since they were in the under grown scene made their reputation strong, while
getting ready to break through the music scene with their anticipated album, with their music that
would keep listeners moving to the beat to their flow that would give an energetic feel to the crowd,
this is what separates them from other artists. South Side have had singles such as “Toi Kup Puan” and
“Kratak” which are featured on the Thaitanium Compilation Volume 1, also the up coming single “Thai”
and “What Zurp” on the Thaitanium Compilation Volume 2.
Freddy V : Federico Vassallo, although a half cast of Italian and Thai blood, although born in Italy, he
was later raised in Phuket and has absorbed the Thai southern culture and was inspired in the sound of
hip-hop. He is well known for the use of Thai, English and Italian in his rhymes with hard punch lines
and catchy flows. He has been doing numerous featuring for both hip-hop artists and singers in the
Thai main music industry such as Jetrin, ETC, Sleepless Society and much more. He has also been the
host for Thaitanium’s next TV and was selected to be the Cleo bachelor of the year 2007.
2p : Pitawat Prusakit, born and raised in Phuket, He is one of the first rapper to come out of Phuket,
from pressing beats by using play station in order to rap on, to becoming the winner of the Thailand
Sing Battle of the year, ruling the 1st title for 2 consecutive years, 2006-07. With a mixture of southern
slang and fancy word play, it makes him one of a kind.
